Abstract
The study examines the influence of Metaverse technologies on higher education with an emphasis on the challenges of an underfunded education system in Albania. In order to explore these problems deeply, the study conducted a survey of 207 university students from across Albania to get their views on the application of Metaverse tools in education, the influence of these tools on their learning, and the barriers that hinder the further use of the technology. As results indicate, students are quite positive about the adoption of Metaverse technologies. As far as they are concerned, the main factors that such technologies contribute to are an increased motivation, better teamwork, and improved problem solving. Along with identifying these major benefits, students are highlighting the serious barriers they see, among which they put the high costs of using technology all around and privacy issues. By focusing on Albania’s specific situation, this research provides practical advice for educators, policymakers, and developers who want to bring immersive learning to more students in resource limited settings.
